Another popular homemade condiment is this amazing Chipotle Crema, which comes with just a little kick! For something a little different, you have to try this Alabama White Sauce. It’s tangy, it’s creamy, and it is an excellent choice if you are looking to switch up your BBQ sauce!

WHAT IS IN Avocado Crema?

Ingredients for avocado crema on a wooden cutting board and white countertop.

As you would expect, the main ingredient is avocado. With the addition of a handful of other ingredients, this flavorful creation is something you will be happy to make and serve over and over again.

INGREDIENTS

  • Ripe avocado, peeled and pitted – You need to use a ripe avocado for this recipe or you will not get a smooth texture in your crema.
  • Plain Greek yogurt – Greek yogurt adds a nice creamy tang to the crema; you can substitute sour cream if you prefer.
  • Lime juice – Fresh squeezed lime juice is best, but you can use bottled juice in a pinch.
  • Kosher salt – I always use Kosher or sea salt in my cooking.
  • Fresh ground pepper – A couple of pinches of fresh ground pepper add the perfect seasoning to this recipe.
  • Fresh cilantro – Fresh chopped for a splash of vibrant color.

This recipe is as simple as it gets and takes only 5 minutes to prepare! It is everyone in the pool, and then you blend it all together.

Place all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. An immersion blender will also work; place all the ingredients into a bowl and blend until smooth.

It also makes a great topping for everything from tacos and burritos to sandwiches or burgers. You can use this avocado crema anywhere that you would use regular mayo or sour cream!

PRO Tip

  • You need to use a ripe avocado in this recipe, if it is under-ripe it will not blend well to give you that creamy texture.
  • This recipe is best enjoyed fresh. The avocado can brown over time when exposed to the air. It is best to prepare it just before serving.
  • If you have leftover crema, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a day or so; however, it is best to use it right away.
